In Sequence 2, I am mixing straight scales up with scales in thirds in small groupings, the idea being that we get used to small patches of scales in thirds. In this way, when we play our scales in thirds from the bottom to the top of the instrument. We will have gained greater independence and trust in our fingers. Please feel free in Sequence 2 to play those that can be, up the octave.
I have also put the exercise into keys with 7 flats and sharps! The likelihood of you ever experiencing such horrible keys (for example C flat major is really B major!) is highly slim, but it is a good exercise for the brain, to be taken into less familiar areas.
